Our delicious Louisiana Gumbo is brimming with chicken, andouille, chorizo and other smoked sausages, shrimp, colorful peppers, and vegetables. We search the city for the finest ingredients without MSG.

The shrimp is freshly sauteed and added when your order is prepared, so you can request that we “hold the shrimp,” if you’d prefer your gumbo without shrimp.

Our meat stock is made on premises in classic fashion, with roasted beef and chicken bones slowly simmered for two days.

Mike’s gumbo is served with a side of dirty rice and your choice of grilled garlic bread or jalapeno cornbread.

What Makes Mike’s Gumbo Special?

Our gumbo is different from your average gumbo in three ways:

  1. It is made with very dark roux, slowly cooked to impart rich color and flavor.
  2. Instead of traditional white rice, we serve the gumbo with an authentic dirty rice dressing.
  3. We employ the “Cajun Method”. This means that the vegetables are added to the stock in three ways: One third are added raw, one third are saute,ed and one third are blackened. This simple process creates layers of flavor.
